MY FIGHT AGAINST MODERN-DAY SLAVERY
SEX TRAFFICKING IS A

A-YEAR INDUSTRY
IN AMERICA, THERE IS OVER
2 MILLION VICTIMS
WITH 530 SAFE HOME BEDS
THE AVERAGE VICTIM
IS RAPED ON AVERAGE
15-20 TIMES PER DAY
I will never forget the dinner I had with Carla Shellis in February of 2021. Walking in, I never imagined it would be the beginning of my fight for the freedom of girls that are being and have been sexually trafficked. Carla is the founder of Bochy’s Place, a safe house for sex trafficking victims. “Bochy's Place is a safe home for women rescued from sexual exploitation & trafficking. We break the cycle of exploitation by leading them into a new normal, empowering them to build the character and integrity to stay there.” From the moment she told me her mission, I was 110% in it to end it.

Naturally, I was extremely invested in this mission. After praying about it, I realized this was a part of the Lord’s purpose for my life. From experiencing sexual abuse at a young age to facing depression, anxiety, treading through the recovery process, and even learning self-defense, I realized I had been prepared for this moment and this fight. The Lord gifted me with relatability, and I truly went through the trenches to be at the stage of life I am now as I'm able to connect with so many people of different walks of life. Through the struggles I’ve faced in my life, I would remind myself of a verse in the Old Testament, “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20 NKJV).

After learning more and more about sex trafficking and hearing heart-breaking stories, my heart was in it to end it and help save women and girls that had been trapped in trafficking.

Here are some of the reasons this is the most important fight we face today, and information on how you can help.

Trafficked victims are raped on average 15-20 times a day. There are 539 beds in America for girls, which is 1 bed for 3773 victims.

In Dallas (where I live), around 400 teens are sold for sex every night. This is a $99 million human trafficking industry.

“Each year, an estimated 600,000 to 800,000 men, women, and children are trafficked across international borders (some international and non-governmental organizations place the number far higher), and the trade is growing.”
Bochy's Place provides freedom from modern-day slavery and gives survivors hope and healing. 1.4 million dollars is needed by the end of 2021 to purchase land and renovate or rebuild a home. I have committed to helping raise the funds for Bochy's Place and raise awareness to the problem of Sex Trafficking.
my commitment to fight for freedom:
steps I'm taking:
As Miss Texas Teen USA 2021, I have been able to speak out against this evil on the national stage at Miss Teen USA as well as through my platform and social media. Working alongside Bochy's Place I have been able to bring titleholders alongside me in Teen League as we work to spread awareness and equip teens to be aware, be educated, and be vessels to end modern day slavery.
Competing in Miss Texas Teen USA
I have received the opportunity to be the Leader of Bochy's Teen League. I work to raise funds to end sex trafficking and help girls who have been exploited. I also spread awareness about Sex Trafficking to keep other teens educated and aware of what is happening so that they may have the knowledge and know how to stay safe!
